An approach to optimization of fault tolerant architectures using HiP-HOPS
<07> This paper is largely based on Parker’s PhD work. By proposing a novel approach to multi-objective optimisation of fault tolerant architectures, it addresses a number of unresolved problems including use of automatic model transformations for optimisation of architectures with respect to dependability and cost. The paper led to novel work on architecture optimisation in the ATESST2 FP7 project (Volvo, DaimlerChrysler, VolksWagen, Delphi, et al); where the particular concept of optimisation of fault tolerance has been integrated in HiP-HOPS and EAST-ADL. Toyota (co-authors) have funded and applied this work on vehicle design with good results, as described in the paper.
