Generic model of a community-based microgrid integrating wind turbines, photovoltaics and CHP generations
This paper develops a unique microgrid model that accurately demonstrates the dynamic performance of the system due to environmental condition changes and electrical faults. The model takes into account interaction with load demands of the distributed generation units when operating in island mode or grid-connection mode, which is particularly problematic in reality. The work was conducted through an international collaboration project on smart microgrid systems, following on funds by EPSRC (EP/I037326). The project collaborator in China (qinking@cn95598.com) is currently integrating the models into their products in order to enhance energy efficiency and provide incentives for better use of energy.
