Additional information

This paper combines geotechnical, fluid mechanics and geophysical concepts. Debris flows are modelled for the first time under enhanced g in order to investigate fundamental scaling principles towards modelling of erosion processes. This research was undertaken in collaboration with Prof. Sarah Springman at Institute für Geotechnik, ETH Zurich. Dr Bowman is advising on a recent European FP7 programme 'Multiscale Modelling of Landslides and Debris Flows' in which this technique is being used. Contact: sarah.springman@igt.baug.ethz.ch
