Additional information

This paper presents and validates a novel condition monitoring strategy for wind turbines, which improves on previous schemes by being able to detect both mechanical and electrical faults from electrical measurements at the generator. The approach is also computationally efficient, with the potential to support online conditioning monitoring. Discussions are ongoing with Romax Technology (contact: Xiaoqin Ma; xiaoqin.ma@romaxtech.com) who wish to exploit the approach in their commercial wind turbine drivetrain health management system.
