Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from solvent-borne coatings (e.g, paints etc.) are a serious environmental problem. This work aims to reduce VOC emissions through the design and development of a novel water-borne coating system based on bifunctional polymer monomers. The process development included adaiabatic and reaction chemistry, kinetics, modelling and thermal runaway assessment, all leading to a new, environmentally benign process route.
