Additional information

<23> This paper presents new insights into illumination estimation for representing colour in images, without a significant effect from the illumination. The proposed technique: (i) provides enabling technology for colour representation under stringent real-world conditions characterised by varying illumination; (ii) avoids image segmentation, hence enabling robust high performance tools for colour image processing. The technique has many real-world applications (e.g. in digital cameras, video surveillance software, smart motor vehicles, etc). This work complements Output 4, and it contributes to the underpinning research for the ‘Adaptive Video Analytics Software’ impact case study, in this submission.
