Double-weighted statement

This 419 page volume reports on a major fieldwork project directed by Sharples. The volume covers the excavation of a fifth to sixth century AD settlement on the Western Isles of Scotland that produced large quantities of material culture and economic data. The work presents a new approach to excavation reporting which integrates contextual recording with artefact and environmental analysis in a comprehensive manner. Sharples is single author for over 25% of the report, contributed to many other sections and edited the component reports to produce a coherent narrative account of the site.
