<22>This paper in a top conference (25% acceptance) introduces the first data-oriented system for generating dialogue from monologue, based on coherence relations in monologue. The system's monologue-to-dialogue corpus has been released to the research community (100 downloads, including Carnegie Mellon and Xerox). A leading disability charity Papworth Trust (supporting over 20,000 people) commissioned computer-animated dialogues, created using the technology to present their user involvement (http://www.papworth.org.uk/page.php?urlid=user_involvement) and feedback leaflets in a more engaging way. An on-going collaboration with Prendinger and Ishizuka (NII/Univ. of Tokyo) led to integration of our open source system with their world-leading HILDA discourse parser.
