Additional information

I was co-editor of volumes 2 (with Michelle Faubert) and 4 (with Leigh Wetherall-Dickson), and co-general editor (with Wetherall-Dickson) for the entire set. For volume 2 I contributed items on pp. 1-101 (plus endnotes) and introduction pp. vii-xiv, plus glossary. For volume 4 I contributed items on pp. 25-63, 115-198, 225-44, 251-262 and 279-81 (plus endnotes) and introduction pp. vii-xii. I also contributed pp. ix-xiii of the General Introduction in volume 1.

The edition emanated from the Leverhulme Trust project 'Before Depression, 1660-1800', for which I was Director and Leigh Wetherall Dickson Research Associate. As general editors we conceived the edition, prepared and co-ordinated the proposal, set the intellectual boundaries and editorial procedures for the volumes, and saw the whole set through the press according to the publisher's timetable.
