Dr Schurink co-organised a three-day conference 'Early Modern Reading: Books, Communities, Conversations' with Prof. Jennifer Richards in 2008. The organisers successfully approached leading US journal Huntington Library Quarterly (University of California Press) with a proposal for a Special Issue comprising revised versions of the best and most relevant papers from the conference. In addition to contributing an essay (pp. 453–69), Schurink reviewed all submissions and jointly with Richards offered detailed feedback, as well as co-authoring an introduction (pp. 345-61) that constitutes a substantial contribution in its own right to the rapidly developing field of the history of reading.
