Additional information

Jones’s chapter appears in a volume he co-edited with Richard Chesser (Head of Music, British Library). It arose from a conference held at the British Library in March 2009 for which Jones acted as adviser. The editing responsibilities were shared as follows: Jones edited the subject matter of the essays; Chesser copy-edited the text and liaised with the publishers; both read all proofs; the volume is distributed in North and South America by the University of Chicago Press.
