Additional information

This paper presents a detailed design of a new scheduling mechanism for voice traffic in multihop WiMAX networks. The paper presents the final result of a research project with T-Labs, Deutsche Telekom, and is based on several successful IEEE conference presentations. The main novelty of this work is in the successful integration of inherent characteristics of the voice traffic into the new WiMAX scheduling mechanism. The research presented in the paper generated additional interest from T-Labs, resulting in a separate research project (2011-2015), looking at scheduling for cooperation in ‘4G’ networks.
