Cross-layer Routing Using Cooperative Transmission in Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks
Wireless vehicular ad-hoc networks have attracted massive attention recently, due to their important applications to intelligent transportation, environment monitoring, etc. This paper, a key deliverable of an EPSRC project (EP/I037423, PI; Ding), proposes an effective path selective strategy by combining cooperative transmission with routing. In particular physical layer channel conditions have been taken into consideration by the routing optimization, which results in more superior and robust performance compared to layered approaches. For example, the proposed cross-layer routing scheme can reduce the delay at least three times compared to conventional schemes, which is particularly important to scenarios with high vehicle mobility.
