Additional information

This is an original approach to the design of thermodynamically-limited reactions. It demonstrates the feasibility of the environmentally-benign production of ethylbenzene, the key intermediate in polystyrene. Resulting from an EPSRC project (EP/C532554) this work is the basis for a series of 8 publications (in J. Catalysis) and 15 conference presentations. The approach developed here has already been used successfully by Lukyanov in studies of methane transformation that is an area of significant industrial interest (Johnson Matthey, John.Casci@matthey.com).
