Additional information

In this study, a novel three dimensional image processing technique (the image registration) is introduced to study local strain and displacement distribution in tendon. The proposed 3D image registration method is essential for obtaining accurate local strain distributions throughout the depth of a tendon, which cannot be detected using a standard 2D method. Also, a toolkit is developed in this research which can be used as a general tool to study strain distribution in any type of tissue. This is an interdisciplinary research in which Biologists and engineers are involved. (2 PhD students and one postdoctoral fellow).
