Additional information

The potential of RF technology to predict catastrophic failure of plant due to compromised insulation is conclusively demonstrated. The work builds on a series of papers published over a decade by three of the authors (Portugues, Moore and Glover) first at the University of Bath and later at the University of Strathclyde. The technology has been commercialized by the spin-out company Elimpus (http://www.elimpus.com/) to provide insulation integrity surveys in the electricity supply industry across the world. Funded by EPSRC [GR/R17799/01, GR/S49223/01], the work encompasses both industrial and international collaboration with the Electric Power Research Institute and the Tennessee Valley Authority.
