Lure of the East was published to accompany the touring exhibition of the same name shown at Yale Center for British Art (7 February.– 27 April 2008), Tate Britain (4 June – 31 August 2008), the Pera Museum in Istanbul (23 September 2008 – 4 January 2009) and the Sharjah Art Museum, UAE (19 February – 30 April 2009).
A Turkish translation was made for the Istanbul exhibition, published in a dual-language (Turkish and English) book. In addition, Tromans published an essay entitled Bringing It Home? in The Poetics and Politics of Place, Ottoman Istanbul and British Orientalism, edited by Z Inankur, Reina Lewis, Mary Roberts 9780295991108.
