Additional information

This article offers a principled response to problems with forensic science and medicine evidence encountered by modern common law courts. Drawing upon legal principle and philosophy of evidence law the article suggests that courts must attend to both the reliability of incriminating expert opinion evidence and the performance of rules and trial safeguards. Published in a thematic issue of the Sydney Law Review focused on evidence law.
