Additional information
This paper reports the first use of a whole-system approach to quantify the efficiency of alternative network-pricing methods. The results presented motivated the industry regulator, Ofgem, to change the national industry standard for Distributed Network Operators and to require them to move to an economic charging model. This move has now been made by Western Power Distribution, UK Power Network, Electricity North West and Northern Electricity Grid, representing some 80% of the UK electricity customer base.
