Additional information
This paper was written together with 5 international authors from Chalmers University in Sweden and Deutsche Bahn in Germany. It reports the findings of a body of work which resulted in new results from simulations and practical tests carried out on a range of railway switch designs as part of the EU ‘DYNOTRAIN’ project. The results will allow track designers to improve the techniques used to optimise the behaviour of a railway vehicle running through a switch. This paper was awarded the SAGE best paper award for 2010.
