Extending nocuous ambiguity analysis for anaphora in natural language requirements
<22>This paper won the best paper award at the 2010 IEEE Requirements Engineering conference, and was later developed into a Requirements Engineering Journal paper. Ambiguity in text is a recognised problem in Requirements Engineering because costly faults can be introduced if text is misinterpreted. This paper focusses specifically on alerting stakeholders to requirements which might be misinterpreted, and introducing the mechanisms into the software lifecycle. Previous solutions have often focussed on using controlled languages to restrict what engineers can say, so we provide a solution based on unconstrained English, which is more representative of how practising requirements engineers work.
