Additional information

This highly cited paper (80 citations, Oct 13) was the first comparison of 18F-FDG PET and state of the art contrast enhanced MRI using Mangafodipir trisodium for imaging of the liver in cancer. The study confirmed the optimum patient diagnostic pathway should include both modalities as PET detected extra-hepatic disease and MRI better characterised liver disease. The paper led to the clinical adoption of these techniques in patients being prepared for curative liver resection. This paper is published in one of the two leading journals in nuclear medicine.
