One-pot Synthesis of a 125I-labeled Trifunctional Reagent for Multiscale Imaging with Optical and Nuclear Techniques
In this paper we report a new synthesis where a three-component construct is assembled in a simple one-pot procedure, producing a class of imaging agents that combine molecular targeting with optical and radionuclide imaging. By allowing imaging at both cellular and whole body level, whole body behaviour can be understood in terms of cellular mechanism. Importantly, the radiolabelling method is simple, inexpensive and robust, and can therefore have widespread use for biomedical and clinical imaging. The flexibility of this new approach brings a new dimension to molecular imaging by harvesting the synergies between individual modalities using very simple synthesis.
