Significance of output:

<25>This research is first to demonstrated how to provide agency in traditional discrete event simulations. Most degree qualified engineers are able to run discrete event simulation model, yet agent-based modelling and simulation for engineering applications are still in the hands of computer science PhDs. This research demonstrates to industrial engineers how they can gain the advantages of agency using a modelling technique they are familiar with. A patent through Rolls-Royce “Simulation of multi-component systems" was filed (4278 NAF). A comparative evaluation of two identical implementation was undertaken as software metrics and experimental results compared.
