Significance of output:

<16>This paper was the first to articulate the problem of provenance in mashups over the Web and present a solution, with a provenance data model, evaluated in the context of a scientific mashup application. The general approach of defining a data model independently of execution technology was instrumental in shaping the Provenance Challenge series, the subsequent Open Provenance Model, both led by Moreau, and the follow-on W3C Provenance Working group, co-chaired by Moreau and Groth, which led to a W3C standard for provenance on the Web. Groth was a PhD student at Southampton supervised by Moreau.
