<16>This paper is the first publication of a new approach for a pervasive device to discover the most-appropriate grid service.
The work reported has been used in an internal research project to investigate improved integration of pervasive devices into service-oriented architectures.
The new approach has been successfully demonstrated and compared with service discovery using a conventional UDDI registry. The new semantic-based capability provides significantly-enhanced functionality (compared with the conventional UDDI approach) with only a small increase in service discovery time.
