<22>This paper is the first to present the use of the max-sum algorithm for coordinating agent-based systems within sensor networks and mobile robotics.
This version extends an earlier highly cited version from AAMAS 2008, and has initiated significant new research at AAMAS. The approach has been taken up by MBDA and BAE Systems (Gareth Rees - gareth.rees@mbda-systems.com - and David Nicholson - david.nicholson2@baesystems.com) and deployed within their own demonstrators.
This work has opened new research directions within the academic community, and been validated and deployed in real-life applications by industrial partners.
