Additional information

<17>This is the first successful attempt to extract syntactically correct mathematical formulas from PDF. The paper won the MKM best paper award. The work presented has led to collaborations with some of the leading researchers in the area, invitations to organise special sessions and give invited talks (ASCM 2010, DEIMS12, HESTEM meeting on Accessible learning resources in Mathematics) and for a visiting researcher position at Google (2012/13). The work served as technology contribution for the European Digital Mathematics Library project (CIP-ICT-PSP.2009.2.4) and lead to a JISC Rapid Innovation Grant on Improving Accessibility to Mathematical Teaching Resources.
