Significance of output:

This work, within EPSRC project EP/E027318/1 (ended in 2010), is significant because of the energy-efficient operation obtained in a simple low-cost wavelength conversion scheme, and because we show how several important issues critical for commercial implementation, can be overcome. Furthermore we derive several rigorous and approximate key expressions important in particular for fibre design.

Related invited talks at leading conferences include IEEE Photonics conference, Jan 2011, ASSP, Feb 2012, and Europhoton, Sept 2012. Continued funding AFOSR, FA8655-11-1-3088 P00001, $100k, also partly EPSRC EP/H02607X/1 (EPSRC Centre for Innovative Manufacturing in Photonics £5.1M, 2010 -2015).
