Additional information

This paper resulted from an international collaboration with Yamada in Tokyo. It addressed distributed learning in distributed sensor networks and introduced a general framework that can cope with changing network topologies and cost functions, and was included in a recent review (DoI:10.1109/MSP.2010.938752). A companion conference paper (DoI:10.1109/ICASSP.2009.4960218) highlighted the application to acoustic source location, an EPSRC/DSTL follow-on project (EP/H012591/1, £95k) was secured and a subsequent paper (DoI:10.1109/TSP.2009.2032450) resulted. This work is one of the major continuing themes in recently funded Platform (EP/J015180/1, £1.05M) and DSTL Defence Centre (EP/K014277/1, £3.8M) awards.
