<02> The median calculation is a precursor in designing and implementing a wide range of algorithms based real order statistics. This contribution introduces a scalable array design for computing the median with faster throughput than previous designs. The simplified architecture allows the median computation to be overlapped with other data capturing techniques to accelerate or mask completely the median calculation time. As such the design has the capacity to influence and impact on a wide range of electronic devices and search algorithms.
