Capacity planning of a perinatal network with generalised loss network model with overflow
<30> Originality: This paper extends the work in output 1 to the general case of a network of neonatal units, and relaxes the Markovian assumptions on arrivals and lengths of stay. A two-moment approximation is developed to derive the steady state solution of the system.
Significance: The paper proposes a generalised model to solve capacity planning problems in a perinatal network as well as any network systems with similar topology.
Rigour: Mathematical proofs support the development of the generalised model. The model is tested on real data from a busy metropolitan network. Results published in leading peer-reviewed journal.
