Testing in the Wild: The Social and Organisational Dimensions of Real World Practice
<21> This paper takes a novel, empirical and sociological approach to understanding what has often been viewed as a purely technical issue, the processes and pitfalls of software testing. By placing software testing within its real world, organisational context, this work offers new insight by outlining the extent to which testing involves satisficing a range of often conflicting organisational demands. So few studies of software development take this approach that it could be said to be in the forefront of the field. This approach to understanding software development has been continued into our more recent studies of MDE approaches.
