Unrestricted student blogging: Implications for active learning in a virtual text-based environment
This paper’s originality stems from its challenging of the widely held assumption that Higher Education Students, the so called ‘digital generation,’ are readily able to make use of social media especially Web 2.0 technology to effectively and efficiently support their academic studies. In addition, the originality and rigour of the paper is further extended by its novel application of a modified version of Bloom’s taxonomy as analytic to the technological context. The significance of the research lies in the author’s being invited to present at an international conferences on technology and learning held in Greece and Singapore in 2011. Furthermore, a conference paper based upon the research was awarded Outstanding Paper of the Conference at the TARC International Conference on Learning and Teaching (2010) held in Kuala Lumpur
