Additional information

This paper shows how brain signals’ complexity is correlated with estimates of functional integrity in the brain. Our novel work supports the notion of a positive correlation between the functional complexity of the brain and the microstructure of its anatomical connectivity. These results suggest that the combination of the non-linear analysis of the electromagnetic activity of the brain with other functional approaches would help us understand how the brain works and how it is impaired by disease in ways not possible with traditional Fourier based spectral analysis.
