Additional information

<28> This manuscript in the leading computational biology journal is the first article describing the formation of a biological neural network and was viewed 4,000 times online. Contrary to the previous paradigm in the field for establishing long-distance connections through guidance cues, such connections are mainly formed when the neurons are nearby. This mechanism might also explain changes in long-distance connectivity for developmental brain disorders. This paper, which led to a press release featured in US News and Bloomberg Business, was crucial in securing EPSRC funding to study human brain development (£465k, EP/K026992/1).
