Double-weighted statement

This is a 163 page book of approximately 75,000 words. It reports on ethnographic research undertaken during 2002 and 2003. Research has given critical attention to the potential role of environmental education in addressing pressing global issues such as sustainable development and climate change but has been focused largely on Europe and North America. This book explores environmental learning within formal education, in programmes by non-governmental organisations and in public education spaces in Costa Rica. It highlights the need for research to understand the broader social and economic interactions between such efforts and the communities in which they are located.
