Additional information

The paper addresses a new approach to numerically identify acoustic modes of a core volume with fluid flow using a technique that is typically used in experimental investigations. Motivation of this work is the desire by Rolls-Royce at the time of conducting the research leading to this paper to have a reliable and robust numerical methodology to identify acoustic mode within gas turbine engine cavities and combustion chamber. It proved that existing CFD codes are suitable for this purpose superseding lower accuracy linearized Euler solvers that are typically used for this purpose.
