Additional information

<26>We investigated systematically issues in the interactive, rendered representation of large ensembles (up to 100,000 and more) of non-spherical rigid bodies, like ellipsoids and spherocylinders, used for the coarse-grained modeling of molecular fluids, in particular liquid crystals, and other soft matter systems, including biomacromolecules. We implemented and benchmarked different approaches; the resulting open-source C++/OpenGL code was provided to the community on SourceForge and quickly established itself as the best molecular graphics tool for coarse-grained simulation. Notice the journal's high Impact Factor of 5.389, which places it 3rd in his category and among the top 5.7% of all 8411 indexed journals.
