<09>This paper is an invited and extended journal version of the Best Paper Award winning conference paper by the same authors at SSBSE 2011 (the 3rd Symposium on Search Based Software Engineering). The results include a 25 times speed-up for an IBM middleware system. This speed-up enables a smoke testing scenario that was simply infeasible for IBM without our approach. We also present results for all the widely studied benchmarks, showing similarly dramatic scalability of our approach. Our approach is already been taken up by other researchers in Europe, North America and China, who are building on this parallelisation approach.
