A high order Discontinuous Galerkin - Fourier incompressible 3D Navier-Stokes solver with rotating sliding meshes
The paper presents a novel algorithm for delivering spectral accuracy in CFD when using moving mesh frameworks for analysis of flows involving relative motion between two bodies (e.g. as is essential in the modelling of a rotating turbine). The method is developed in the context of three-dimensional Discontinuous Galerkin Spectral solvers which are used to achieve high accuracy. The significance is that this methodology underpins ongoing high-fidelity computational research into multi-body interactions, with particular application to the flows around marine turbines for tidal energy extraction.
