Additional information

A technique for generating low frequency (<10kHz) pulse trains to very high precision (error < 10-5 % over 1s interval), using low cost hardware suitable for industrial measurement. It has been implemented in Invensys’ CFT-50/1 Coriolis meters to improve the dynamic response to step changes in the process flow rate. In the downstream oil industry, mechanical flowmeters (turbine, PD) have fast dynamic responses but also high maintenance requirements. Replacing them with low maintenance electronic instruments such as Coriolis meters requires an equivalent dynamic response to pass meter proving standards. This is now being achieved.
