Additional information
The research presented in this paper was the first to show that new additive manufacturing techniques could be used in combination with high speed machining to create commercial quality tooling, with demonstrated use in three industrial trials. The paper also presents, for the first time for an additively manufactured tool, (i) durability data, and (ii) new insights on the effect of cooling channel placement on productivity and energy use.
