Additional information

The paper assesses the hydrodynamic performance of newly formulated antifouling coatings by combining the drag and boundary layer measurements in a slender body apparatus, never previously used in testing antifouling coatings, allowing direct measurement of the drag forces. This builds on work published by the group in 2012, which presented the first measurements of performance of the coatings on flat plates [Atlar3]. The research was carried out in collaboration with International Paint (co-authors Davies and Williams), who have commercialised the coatings (contact: David Williams; david.williams@akzo-nobel.com).
