Additional information
The research presented in this paper clarified the role of the physical and chemical effects of fuel reforming process associated with the direct fuel injection into hot residual gases and their effect on the combustion timing in a CAI/HCCI engine. The finding identified a means to controlling the autoignition combustion phasing during the CAI/HCCI operation. This work was sponsored by EPSRC and Ford Motor Company.
