Additional information
There is a need for better understanding of the process of machining of low rigidity parts when they deflect due to cutting forces. The research provides the theoretical foundations for design of new generation of active fixtures in machining of thin walled parts. The results have the potential to deliver a significant impact on designing new fixturing concepts for machining of turbine blades in Rolls Royce (andrew.mantle@rolls-royce.com) and multispindle drilling at Airbus (michael.redman@airbus.com).
