Significance of output:

Despite their long history, this paper is the first to present a numerical approach that actually conserves the volume of fluid in “Volume of Fluid” simulations. This is equivalent to conservation of mass, and the simple approach is therefore the only one in the literature suitable for a vast range of practical engineering problems, from tank sloshing, to ship slamming, to bubble break-up and reformation. In the last year the citations to this work have tripled and established leaders in the field have contacted the authors for collaboration
