Significance of output:

The new £117m iBus system in London has been installed primarily to improve fleet management, bus priority at traffic signals and real-time passenger information. It also provides a massive new data source for other potential applications. This paper demonstrates two new applications of this automatic data – for bus stop dwell time measurement and for scheme appraisal. The paper reports on the processes/software developed by the Authors’ for Transport for London (TfL), which provide better data quantity/quality and could save TfL up to £1m each year in survey costs.
