Significance of output:

The Doppler radiometer concept is used in a novel way in this paper by using free flying satellites. This work originally won a national competition run by the Centre for Earth Observation Instrumentation. The techniques have been developed with collaboration from the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya, the originators of the concept. The application to coastal salinity has been motivated by discussion with scientists from the National Oceanography Centre at Southampton.
