Significance of output:

The interleaved inverter described in this paper is 50% smaller than a conventional bridge inverter and has a considerably faster response. The work has been exploited commercially by Bowman Power as part of their exhaust energy recovery systems (EERS), which are now sold worldwide to a growing market. The EERS can save about 3% fuel, thus saving about £200k per annum in a medium size generator set, i.e. it pays for itself within 6 months. Contact Mr John Lyons, JLyons@bowmanpower.co.uk. The work has recently lead to further funding from EPSRC
